Sometimes the dead do come back. Yep! It’s true. There are a few long-sold out art prints that we have been considering bringing back from the archives and we’re happy to announce that 2 of our most requested silkscreen art prints are back in a big way.

“Fair Is Fair Trade” was originally designed and printed in 2008, featuring dark-roast brown and an Aegean Blue iconic NYC coffee take out cup with the slogans “Fair is fair. Justo es justo” supporting the freshly poured cup of joe.

“Coffee, Thee & Me” was originally designed and printed in 2009 featuring and elephant and a giraffe, super best friends sharing a moment of love and fidelity over a steaming cup of fresh coffee.

Both coffee-themed screen prints were created as a part of an art show initiative to raise awareness and funds for a fair trade coffee collective which Mugshots Coffee House in Philadelphia, PA works with regularly. Both coffee-forward print runs sold out quickly, and being major coffee fans as well as strong believers in not only supporting fair trade practices, but in putting our money where our mouths are and giving back creatively. To that end, we are really excited to re-release and re-print both designs as open edition art prints with a portion of the sale of each print benefiting Fair Trade USA. Fair Trade USA educates consumers, brings new manufacturers and retailers into the Fair Trade system, and provides farmers with tools, training and resources to thrive as international businesspeople.

Both “Fair Is Fair Trade” and “Coffee, Thee & Me” are entirely hand silkscreen printed with 3 hand mixed colors and are sized to fit beautifully into either a standard 16″ x 20″ frame by trimming the border, or into an 18″ x 24″ frame as is with a 1″ matte.

“Fair Is Fair Trade” and “Coffee, Thee & Me” are now available for purchase from our webstore here in our “Benefit Prints” section where the sale of each item directly benefits a cause or charity that we support, or in our Etsy shop here.

Below are some photographs from the hand silkscreen printing process taken while printing in our studio. There are tons more process photos at our Flickr page here too.

412Creative + strawberryluna = love

Pittsburgh is BOOMING these days with smart, creative and cool people. When I first moved here on a whim many years ago, Pittsburgh was a perfectly nice city across the state from my home in Philadelphia. It seemed like an easy move to test the waters of living somewhere else.

Now? Pittsburgh is wicked awesome. And one of the new avenues of documenting and sharing the many ways in which this city has organically become a vibrant hub of creativity, design and culture is 412Creative. Utilizing multi-disciplinary talents of their own to showcase the same going on and growing around the city, 412Creative describes themselves as:

“Devoted to showcasing smart and effective design and advertising.  The website was motivated by a nagging question, one that pops up frequently when looking through magazines, surfing the Web or watching the news: “Who did that?”

To that end, we’re incredibly honored to have shared a recent Saturday with 412Creative’s Elvira Eichleay and Joey Kennedy so that they could put together this wonderful piece on our studio, our process and our creative lives in Pittsburgh.

To read the full interview profile and see many more lovely photographs by Joey Kennedy, just click here and visit 412Creative! We can’t wait to hang out again soon!

Steeltown Stock, poster art show opens this Friday, June 4th!

There’s a new poster show in town, and it’s going to be rad. I’m thrilled to have been asked by the excellent Pittsburgh arts blog Steeltown Anthem’s Mundania Horvath to be in Steeltown Stock, a big fat cool showcase of local printmakers and poster artists.

Steeltown Stock opens this Friday, June 4th at the <C> SPACE COLLECTIVE on Penn Avenue (4823 Penn Avenue, 15224) with an opening reception. Posters and prints on display as well as other prints will be available for purchase, many directly from the artists themselves. How cool is that?! (Unfortunately, I won’t be able to be there for the opening reception since I will be in NYC for the Renegade Craft Fair Brooklyn, but I will definitely be around for the closing reception on Friday June 25th, so stop by then too.) Posters & prints will be available for sale throughout the duration of the show, but will be in limited quantities for sure.

The many faces of Pittsburgh printmaking and design will be represented at the Steeltown Stock gallery show at the <C> Space Collective from letterpress to silk screen, block printing, and more all wrapped up into one rad talent pool of illustration and design printed by hand and locally by working Pittsburgh artists.
