Crafts N’At: Pittsburgh Craft Show this Sunday!

Hey gang! There is a new craft show in town from the Pittsburgh Craft Collective called Crafts N’At, and hot dog! It’s this weekend at Soldiers & Sailors in Oakland 🙂

We’ll be there vending and chatting and hanging out at Crafts N’At with the quite large and super talented host of Pittsburgh crafters and DIY artists all day Sunday. So come check out the best that Pittsburgh’s fresh, upbeat and hardworking craft scene has to offer. Plus, this year’s 2nd Annual Crafts N’At is benefitting the amazing Animal Friends shelter. (That’s where we got our lovely little Sprite in October.

Also, there is a SUPER awesome party tonight to benefit the incredible Animal Friends too. The kick-off party is at Wildcard in Lawrenceville, recently voted “Pittsburgh’s Best New Boutique” by Pittsburgh Magazine, so yeah…it’s a pretty cool handmade haven shop. Come to the part & support both local crafters and local animals in need 🙂 It’s a twofer of warm and fuzzy proportions.

Both the Friday night Kick-off party at Wildcard and the Craft Show Crafts N’At are FREE to attend. And at Crafts N’At there will be fun, family friendly activities sponsored by Creative Reuse Pittsburgh and the Society for Contemporary Craft, food from Coca Cafe and Square Cafe, and performances by Brad Yoder and Shay and Joe Serkoch.

The Important Details, Just For You:

Thank you Chicago & Renegade!

Just wanted to give a bustass shout out to everyone in Chicago who came out and made this year’s Chicago Renegade Craft Fair so fun and so amazing. It’s always so great doing a busy show and getting to meet so many awesome people. I was a little overwhelmed with the idea of working this 2-day, outdoor festival solo, but man oh man, things could not have gone more smoothly. Perfect weather, lovely neighbors, and awesome shoppers. The crowd was really big, and everyone was super friendly and nice. What else could a craft show boother ask for?

I got a quick chance to step out into the crowds on Saturday & take this one. Busy all of the time!

A special thanks to Sue Daly & everyone else of Renegade for all of your hard work, I can’t imagine the monumental kitten herding feat it must be to bring this fair to order. You guys did a phenomenal job! And a double extra special thanks to my homies in Pittsburghtown, the little area of Renegade where fellow Pittsburgh Craft Collective crafters Rag Trader, garbella and Cosy Knits and myself were. Thanks for looking out for me, and most huge thanks to Rag Trader Beth &  her brother Joel, I could not have done it without you cats.

This trip was super special as it was the 2nd part of a 2 week show tour that I did with friends and fellow print and poster artists Hero Design & Delicious Design League too. Thanks for your hospitality Delicious! We love hanging around Chicago, as the photos while working and playing below can attest to. And there are more boring photos on my Flickr page here!

And below, some photos from our day off in Chicago on Monday. It’s always so nice when we can build in a little time to walk around and do quintessential things in other cities.

Crafts’n’At Craft Fair in Pittsburgh!

Go check this craft fair out!

Go check this craft fair out!

September is a lovely month, isn’t it? So many changes and new things going on, it’s no surprise that this September is loaded with awessome craft shows too.

Although I won’t be a part of this show, as I will be in Seattle for another Flatstock poster show during the Bumbershoot Music Festival, I think that you fine folks who will be in Pittsburgh should check out the awesometacular Crafts’n’At Craft Fair at the Union Project over Labor Day weekend, put on by the Pittsburgh Craft Collective (PCC).

The Who, What, Where, When, & Whys:

WHO: Crafts N’At is brought to you by the Pittsburgh Craft Collective. We are a group of 51+ members working to create a strong and vibrant craft community through social and resource networking, education and workshops, and information sharing.

WHAT: Crafts N’At is an opportunity for independent crafters to show and sell their wares, establish their business, and to celebrate creativity. It features over 50 vendors, make & take crafts for children and adults, craft demonstrations, live performances, a Chinese auction and raffle, and an outdoor BBQ.

If you are interested in becoming a vendor, click here for more information. If vending isn’t your thing, but you still want to help out please send us an email at pghcraftcollective@gmail.com. If you are looking for promotional items for the show {including banners, buttons, and flyers}, click here.

WHERE: The Union Project at 801 North Negley Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206

WHEN: Saturday, September 5, 2009 {Labor Day Weekend} Open to the Public: 10am to 6pm

WHY: The PCC will work each year to raise money for a charity in conjunction with this event. This year’s show will benefit [ gravity + grace ] and the Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania (PFWPA).

[ gravity + grace ], a contemporary opera written by Frank Ferraro, reveals his struggles with Parkinson’s Disease and will premier Sept 25th at the Hillman Center for Performing Arts.  All net proceeds of [ gravity + grace ] will be used to support the PFWPA programs and services for people with Parkinson disease, their families and caregivers.
