Crafty Supermarket is a great indie craft & maker market in downtown Cincinnati, OH that brings together shoppers who love and value handmade, small business and hand crafted work with the very makers and artists who make them. And we can’t wait to join those storied ranks this Saturday!

Yep. We’re Crafty Bastards, come see us in DC!

That’s right! The time is almost here DC area folks, and we can’t wait to see you all again. Hooray!

Crafty Bastards will be held outdoors on Saturday September 27th + Sunday September 28th from 10am to 5pm (both days) at Union Market and features over 140 artists and crafters from around the country.

Now in its 11th amazing year, the incredible Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair is a highly juried show of some of the very best in Handmade Makers from independent artists, presented by the Washington City Paper, and we are so honored to be a part of this fabulous show once again. Admission is $5 each day, and yes! Tickets are available in advance online here.

We will be vending both days of the Fair, with lots of new work and old favorites in tow from our hand printed hand pulled silkscreen Art Prints, hand screen printed Rock Posters, hand pulled Alphabet Prints, Lunch Bags, Test Prints and more. So do come and say hello, we can’t wait to see you DC!

Hello Chicago Renegade Craft Fair!

We’re back in the swing of craft & art show season things! And we couldn’t be more excited to be heading to Chicago, IL for the always amazing (and always free!) Renegade Craft Fair – Chicago edition, happening this Saturday & Sunday September 7th & 8th from 11am – to 7pm, both days.

The Renegade Craft Fair brings together over 300 of the best of the best of handmade makers and artists from all corners, setting up booths to meet, greet, and sell our work to the lovely people of the Midwest. This event is HUGE and not to be missed!

We will be there bright and early, and stayin’ late at Booth No. 6 (see our handy map below), so easy to find right near the corner of Division & Damen. Easy in, easy out. Come visit and say hello! We will have lots of hand illustrated and hand screenprinted Art Prints, Rock Posters, Alphabet Prints, Lunch Bear Bags, new greeting cards and more!

Handmade Arcade Hooray! This Saturday 12/8 – One Day Only!

The Holidays are here in full effect and so is the amazing Handmade Arcade here in our hometown of Pittsburgh!

Handmade Arcade is our last craft show of the year, and we couldn’t be happier closing out our schedule right here at home. Come join us and over 150+ vendors from all over the country with some of the nation’s best indie artists and crafters selling amazing handmade works for your holiday shopping lists – and don’t forget to pick up something for yourself too. You deserve it!

We’ll be at Booth #154 and we will have lots and lots of our Art Prints, Alphabet Prints, Rock Posters, Lunch Bags, Hand Screen Printed Wine Gift Bags, Wood Art Pieces (super new from our gallery show at Wildcard!) and Test Prints plus more goodies!

Handmade Arcade is Pittsburgh’s first and largest independent art & craft fair and is now in it’s 9th year. Handmade Arcade is FREE to attend and will be at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center Downtown with tons of cool & creative activities for children and adults alike in the Hands-On Handmade section all day too.

This year we are also honored to have designed the special tote bags for our friends at Handmade Arcade too! They will be available for sale at the Handmade Arcade booth with our exclusive custom design below, and are expertly printed by the folks at The Cotton Factory:

The free Holley Trolley that runs in Downtown Pittsburgh will be making regular stops all day at the Convention Center for Handmade Arcade, and free parking will be provided by  most garages (Convention Center garage excluded) and free on-street parking as well.

On the road again! We’re so thrilled to be a part of one of our favorite shows of the year, the amazing Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago, IL.

Join us and over 300 (yep! Amazing right?) of the most talented and cool makers of handmade awesome in the country & beyond. We will have lots of new prints and posters and more, so don’t miss out friend!

Renegade Craft Fair is FREE to attend.

 When: September 8+9, 2012 from 11am – 7pm each day

Where: Along Division Street from Damen to Paulina in Wicker Park for the biggest + best Renegade Craft Fair of them all!

What: We’ll have hundreds of today’s greatest indie makers along with interactive workshops, tasty local food + booze, music + more. Get ready, Chicago, it’s going to be the best RCF yet!

Why: Because handmade is best!

Check out this year’s lineup of amazingly talented artists!

Check out hands-on activities from Vogue Knitting (they’ll be leading make-and-take knitting workshops), the Chicago School of Shoemaking (you can stamp your own leather pieces and watch shoes being made by hand), Lillstreet Art Center (you can try your hand at using metal-stamping techniques to make your own pendant), the Student Art Therapy Association of SAIC (they’ll be leading worry doll-making workshops, a community weaving project, and a t-shirt necklace project), Girls Rock! Chicago (make a rad rock-and-roll button), the Urban Prairie Waldorf School (students from the school will be teaching you how to make jump ropes from organic fabrics), andPébéo (you can paint your own ceramic tile with their new paint pens). The Vintage Bazaar will host a pop-up vintage market at Renegade. Make sure to visit their section of the fair at Division and Wolcott.

I Made It! Market Jr. show this Saturday

We are pleased as punch to be participating in the I Made It! Market Jr., edition of Pittsburgh’s nomadic craft fair this Saturday April 21st at Bakery Square in East Liberty / Shadyside.

It’s completely free to attend IMI! Jr., edition is only for one day! Don’t miss out on some super adorable small things for small folks.

We’ll have plenty of our Alphabet Prints, Baby & Toddler tees, nursery & kid-friendly Art Prints, and we will also be debuting “Lunch Bear”, the very first design in a new line of recycled cotton, reusable lunch bags too! If you saw our feature in Table Magazine, you saw a sneak peek prototype.)

 

I Made It! Market Jr., Details:

Who: Over 30 artisans will participate. Meet all of us here!

When: This Saturday April 21st from Noon – 4pm.

Thank you Chicago!

Chicago & The Renegade Craft Fair Gang? You are fantastic. Thanks to everyone who came out to shop and check out the 350+ artists and crafters at the 2010 Renegade Craft Fair in Wicker Park, Chicago. It was great getting to meet so many new people and to talk with old friends too.

After doing our usual fun convoy caravan with my friends Mark & Beth from Hero Design, I set off on my own to find my way into Roscoe Village in Chicago.

Forgoing the hotel route, this time I took the advice of a friend and tried out the website Homeaway.com to see if I could find a short term condo / apt. rental for our friends Beth & Joel from Rag Trader Vintage & myself to crash in while working Renegade. It took a little work and a lot of back & forth communication between a few different owners, but in the end it worked out beautifully. We found the Roscoe Village Guest House units, with a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom place in the super pretty Roscoe Village neighborhood for less than a hotel, and, shoot. We had a kitchen & livingroom to relax in at the end of a long hard workday. I highly recommend them. And Rag Trader Vintage were my lifesaving booth neighbors, helping me set up & break down this time since I was working this show solo. Thank you so much guys!

Despite the potential for trouble with rain on Saturday morning, everything turned out tip top. The early morning rains on Saturday went from this:

To this within just a couple of hours and all was perfect for the rest of the weekend 🙂

All set up and in the sun. Yay!

And, holy cow geekery, we got a mention on the amazing design & lifestyle blog Apartment Therapy today in a post about first-time art buying, where our Beach House poster was the recommended print buy from the Renegade Handmade Store in Wicker Park. Thank you Apartment Therapy, you make me blush.

Crafts N’At: Pittsburgh Craft Show this Sunday!

Hey gang! There is a new craft show in town from the Pittsburgh Craft Collective called Crafts N’At, and hot dog! It’s this weekend at Soldiers & Sailors in Oakland 🙂

We’ll be there vending and chatting and hanging out at Crafts N’At with the quite large and super talented host of Pittsburgh crafters and DIY artists all day Sunday. So come check out the best that Pittsburgh’s fresh, upbeat and hardworking craft scene has to offer. Plus, this year’s 2nd Annual Crafts N’At is benefitting the amazing Animal Friends shelter. (That’s where we got our lovely little Sprite in October.

Also, there is a SUPER awesome party tonight to benefit the incredible Animal Friends too. The kick-off party is at Wildcard in Lawrenceville, recently voted “Pittsburgh’s Best New Boutique” by Pittsburgh Magazine, so yeah…it’s a pretty cool handmade haven shop. Come to the part & support both local crafters and local animals in need 🙂 It’s a twofer of warm and fuzzy proportions.

Both the Friday night Kick-off party at Wildcard and the Craft Show Crafts N’At are FREE to attend. And at Crafts N’At there will be fun, family friendly activities sponsored by Creative Reuse Pittsburgh and the Society for Contemporary Craft, food from Coca Cafe and Square Cafe, and performances by Brad Yoder and Shay and Joe Serkoch.
