ROMG!! So, OK. If you follow me on Facebook and / or Twitter, you know that just a bit back I was freaking out a tad about a poster gig…and I couldn’t help it. Could you? This is the one that made me so excited it was hard to sleep. No kidding.

Belle & Sebastian are pretty much my favoritest favorite band, and have been for well over a decade. About 14 years now. So, we’re beyond-all-reason-honored and thrilled to do Belle & Sebastian’s limited edition 2010 North American Tour poster (our 2nd poster for the lovelies from Glasgow. Here is our now-sold-out first poster for them from way back in 2006.) We hope that you like it as much as they do.

Simply put? They’re the bestest.

This start of a love letter is my all hand screenprinted poster for the fantastic Belle & Sebastian with poppy-red and midnight black hand-mixed acrylic silkscreen inks. Edition: 400 copies were sold on tour with the band and an Artist’s Edition of 100 available here, signed & numbered (by me, strawberryluna) so I will have a limited few available for sale. Size: 16×22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight.

This poster was sold at the North American show dates I have just a portion of the run available for sale here, so they will go quick!

Now onsale for $25 and  freshly available for purchase at my website HERE and also in my Etsy shop here.

I also want to give a giant shout out to the adorable Fiona from Banchory who was just the best! 🙂 xo ladybug! I was lucky enough to catch their Washington, DC show at the D.A.R. with my friend Laura from soulrun and it was a magical night. Eeee!

Since the edition was a tad huge for hand screenprinting as fast as possible, (that’s right, I hand screenprinted 500 posters in 2 days…) I have only a few process photos, but I hope that you dig them anyway 🙂

Check out more at my Flickr page too!

All new 2-color hand screenprinted poster for Ra Ra Riot. (Click to purchase or for more info.)

It’s a year in the making, but I’m so happy things work out the way that that do sometimes. We had originally talked with Ra Ra Riot‘s management over a year ago about working together on a poster, and here were are, October 2010 when it all came together. Huzzah!

The show was amazing, and surprising too. We arrived home from a great weekend in DC for Crafty Bastards just in time for me to edition & sign the posters for Sunday night’s Ra Ra Riot 10/2 show, gulp some homemade soup for dinner and run on down to Diesel for the show. As it turned, out, I was selling my posters behind the merch booth that evening. It was good spot to catch the amazing openers We Barbarians (from California) and Chikita Violenta (hailing from Mexico City), all of whom were super rad as well. Thanks to Rachel, the bands, & everyone at the show for great night 🙂

Info about this new poster release:

Modern & looking back to the past, like thinking about living off of the backs of our ancestors. That’s a bit how Ra Ra Riot‘s awesome sound feels. We love them! And we’re super aced to do this poster for their Pittsburgh, PA show.

New poster released: The National

3-color, all hand screenprinted silkscreen poster for The National. (Click for more info or to purchase.)

Alright! Brand new poster release here for the amazing band The National, as you can see from above.

And, we finally were able to catch them live. And dudes, their reputation is not only solid gold, but it perfectly earned and well deserved.

We arrived at the show early in order to get our posters to the merch table ASAP, and then it was time to relax outside of the beautiful Carnegie Library of Homestead Music Hall grounds in Homestead with a glass of wine and a lovely fall night gathering on the hill. It was pretty spectacular. And things only got better as we met up with our super friends Sarah & Scott from The Wreckids. Sarah had toured with The National in a past band (Boxstep) and invited us to hang out with her & the guys in The National after the show. Rock star sweetpeas, that’s all I can say about the end of the evening. HUGE thanks to The National for the amazing show, the hospitality backstage afterwards and the giggles.

New poster released: The New Pornographers in NYC!

Hot-cha! 2-color, all hand screenprinted poster for The New Pornographers' show at Terminal 5 in NYC. (click to purchase or for more info)

I’m a little late to post this, my apologies. Summer brain seems to have taken a good hold of me lately when I’m not working.

Anyhoo, here is our latest poster, and we’re pretty danged excited about this one. We’re a part of The New Pornographers tour poster series for their Summer 2010 tour. A tour series is where a band commissions a different poster for each stop on their tour, and it’s always a treat to see the variety of work, as well as it being a super way for fans to connect to that night’s show.

Details:

Hand screenprinted poster for The New Pornographers with The Dodos, and The Dutchess & The Duke’s show on June 19, 2010 at Terminal 5, New York, NY.

One of our long time favorites, The New Pornographers. Huzzaah! We are really excited to be a part of their summer 2010 tour poster series, where the band has a different gig poster artist do a different poster design for each stop on the tour. Plus the neato line up of bands on this tour, and, being that we’re super down with NYC, winner winner! So hey chum, you are looking at my all hand screenprinted poster for this awesome line up of bands. It’s my 2-color, suggestive and rockin’ all hand screenprinted poster with tender pink and midnight black, hand mixed and non-toxic water based screenprinting inks.
Like all of my posters, this limited edition silkscreen poster is signed (by me) and numbered in a limited edition of 240. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight.

New poster released: Beach House

4 color, all hand screenprinted poster for Beach House (click for more info or to purchase)

We love Beach House, so so much. Semi ethereal, almost otherworldly-ghostly quality that I (of course) really dig, You’d have to close your ears hard not to notice that their lyrics often involve the sea, salt water, and drifting oceanic themes, like a ghost-ship, the kind that are found abandoned at sea carrying on alone.

And therefore, you are looking at my all hand screenprinted poster for the incomparable Beach House. It’s my 4-color, all hand screenprinted poster with ocean-sky blue, deep sea blue, and timber brown hand mixed and non-toxic water based screenprinting inks. The dark ocean blue overprints the timber brown of the ship to make a 4th color, overprint magic!

These posters were sold at the show. Didn’t get one there? Lucky you, I have a few copies left for sale. This limited edition poster is signed (by me) and numbered. Edition of 98. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight.

Now available at my website here.

2 new rock poster releases! St. Vincent & The Wreckids

My 6 color, hand screenprinted poster for St. Vincent's show wi/ Wildbirds & Peacedrums in Pittsburgh on 2/21/10. (Click to purchase or for more info,)

After taking the month of January off from printing to work on some big design projects, as well as recover and regroup from a fantastically hectic summer + fall + winter 2009 work schedule, we were finally able to really focus on getting my new studio up and running for real. Craig found the space in July ’09 and I signed the lease starting in September. It was love at first sight for sure. A blog post covering the set up and construction of my new solo studio (nicknamed Friendship Studio) is definitely due. And now that it’s been one week since completing my first prints and posters there from start to finish? I’m feeling really great about all of the crazy and hard work that we did. But, more on that soon.

For now, I’m really stoked to post these new releases, as they are the first posters out of my Friendship Studio!

First up is actually the 2nd poster printed at my new space : that being my poster (pictured above) for St. Vincent. I’m really proud to be a part of the tour series organized for this tour, with the super cool (& Swedish!) Wildbirds & Peacedrums. The show was…amazing. Definitely try to catch St. Vincent on tour at some point this year. The above is my 6-color all hand pulled screenprinted poster with bark brown, clear yellow & magenta hand-mixed, non-toxic water based acrylic inks. Super secret magic: Three inks & 3 screens were used to make a total of 6 colors utilizing lots of overprints. (Overprints are when semi-transparent layers of ink combine and overlap to make another color.) I will have a very limited number of this poster for sale, as most of the edition was sold by the band on the night of the show & on tour. Size: 16w x 22h inches. Edition of 125. Paper: acid-free & archival Cougar 100 lb White, cover weight. Click here for more information on my website or to purchase.

And next up is actually the FIRST poster that I printed in my new studio. Is it backwards posting this first poster one second? Yes. But cousin, that’s how I roll.

My 2 color, hand screenprinted poster for The Wreckids CD release show in Pittsburgh on 2/19/10. (Click for more info!)

This poster is special all over. It’s for our dear friends The Wreckids CD release party in Pittsburgh, and you need to know a few things. 1. They are the coolest. 2. They’re awesome. 3. This poster is ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY available through the band. Yep, that’s right. So if you like it? Please help support them and purchase a poster from The Wreckids directly via their Myspace page HERE.

The Wreckids are some sweetie pies in disguise. This poster is for their CD release party for the record “Singing You To Sleep But Giving You Nightmares”, and doesn’t that just about folktale style say it all? The above is my 2-color all hand pulled screenprinted poster with blood red and midnight black hand-mixed, non-toxic water based acrylic inks. Size: 16w x 22h inches. Edition of 25. Paper: acid-free & archival Cougar 100 lb White, cover weight.

Some new strawberryluna releases!…?…!

Ok, I won’t lie. This summer and well, now early fall have been breakneck speed work, travel to several shows all over the country (Chicago Flatstock, Seattle Flatstock & Chicago Renegade, to name a few), packing orders (with many prints and posters now sold out) and more work for me here at strawberryluna World Wide HQ. So much so that I seem to have forgotten to update my ol’  bloggery here with a few “new” prints and posters. Whoopsie daisy Maisy!

So, without further chit chat, I bring you some “new” releases! Ooooohhhhh…

First up, POSTERS:

Hey, remember Joe Cocker? The man was and IS a rock’n’roll animal to the core. And, he’s been touring pretty much non-stop since the John Belushi SNL skit days, (too young to know what I’m talking about? Weren’t watching SNL as a little kid like I was? Learn here whippersnapper.) Anyway, I had the supreme honor of doing a poster for his show at the Delta Classic Chastain Park Ampitheater in Atlanta, GA.

Next up, is my rainy day homage to one of my favorite US cities: Seattle! For one of the premier rock poster shows, Flatstock, designers & poster artists have free range to produce a poster for each Flatstock and it’s super fun to do. This year for Seattle’s Flatstock, which happens during the Bumbershoot Music Festival, I made a little play on Seattle & Pittsburgh’s similarity – rain. This poster is based on an illustration that I’ve had floating around for about a year and that I really wanted to use, so I added some musical notes and textures and a lil mod-city in the background to finish the layout. Hope that you dig.

And, just in time for autumn, I’d like to premier my Summer 2009 art print, the next new print in my Seasons series. Oh yeah! On time like a bus on a sleeting Christmas Sunday. And not a hair too soon before my Fall 2009 print is done and ready. Ho, ho ho. Loads of overprints dominate this hand screenprinted breezy summer lovin’ expression.

And lo & behold,  last but not least, my most recent art print, the newest colorway of my super popular Going To See My Baby print, this time is fall-ready orange.  Hence the name, Going To See My Baby Orange. Tricky! I know. Who doesn’t love love?

New poster released: The Decemberists

Hand screenprinted 3-color poster for The Decemberists show on 8/14/09 at The Byham Theater in Pittsburgh, PA

Hand screenprinted 3-color poster for The Decemberists show on 8/14/09 at The Byham Theater in Pittsburgh, PA

No surprise, I love, love The Decemberists, they work the lovely and dark into a thing of beauty and complexity so well, so deftly. We’re really pleased and excited to be working with them once again for this poster.

This poster is my all hand screenprinted ode to The Decemberists “The Rake Song”. It’s a 3-color print with bright & shiny metallic gold, midnight black and rusty pink inks. Edition of just 110. Size: 16w x 22h inches. Paper: acid-free & archival Cougar 100 lb White, cover weight. Available on my website here.

Their show in Pittsburgh last night was fantastic, exceeding even the rumors we’d heard and expectations set up from tales of previous nights’ shows on tour. Playing “The Hazards of Love” from start to brutal finish, kicking much ass with a killer rendition of Heart’s “Crazy”, and giving a magical reenactment of “The Battle Of Fort Pitt” by The Decemberists Family Players, we were spellbound. And now I’m even further in love. Thank you for the magic. And thanks again for signing a copy of your poster for us too!

Heartbreakers. In a great way. That’s what Jason Molina’s band,  Magnolia Electric Co. are, and they’re amazing. I’m pleased as puch to be a part of the summer 2009 Magnolia Electric Co. tour series of posters, (a different limited edition, hand screenprinted poster was produced by artists from all over the country, one poster for each night of the tour) and had such a fun time at the show last night at The Andy Warhol Museum seeing MEC and the super cool Sand Diego band, The Donkeys. Thanks so much again!
