We are thrilled to be working with the incredible My Morning Jacket once again.

And with that! I present our new poster for My Morning Jacket’s show in Pittsburgh on August, 27, 2010.

Waves of natural sound, light, and imagery, that’s the amazing sounds of My Morning Jacket. We love this band, and we’re thrilled to be working with them again on a poster for our hometown, Pittsburgh.

Screenprinted, limited edition poster, designed for the force of nature, My Morning Jacket with bright green, sky blue & black inks. Edition of 166, signed (by me, strawberryluna) and numbered. Size: 18 x24 inches (45.7 cm x 61 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar Cream 100lb cover weight.

Renegade here we come! Come see strawberryluna in Chicago this weekend!

Zhboinga!! I’ll be there with bells on. Er, you know, metaphorically that is.

But I will be at the fantastic Renegade Craft Fair, in Chicago‘s lovely Wicker Park neighborhood this weekend both Saturday & Sunday from 11am – 7pm talking to folks and selling work. It’s a super fun time. Hope to see you there!

I’ve got a ton of new prints and posters, and they are raring to go to new homes. So come on out! Enjoy one of the nation’s biggest & brightest independent craft shows loaded with handmade talent. Seriously, the cream of the crop. And dudes, Renegade Craft Fair is HUGE. We’re talking 8 blocks of Division St. long, packed with over 300 working artists & crafters.

Plus Renegade Craft Fair also has a slew of great local food & drinks, craft workshops & demos, live entertainment, and holy heck….all of this and it’s FREE to attend? Well blow me down matey.

I’ll have new prints like Coffee, Thee & Me and Autumn Cardinal (completing my Cardinal Seasons series!) as well as new posters freshly printed! The Fair takes place in Wicker Park, one of Chicago’s liveliest neighborhoods, and is easily accessible by public transportation or bicycle! Take advantage of thebicycle parking-lot at the intersection of Winchester + Division, provided by KIND Healthy Snacks!

Crafts N’At: Pittsburgh Craft Show this Sunday!

Hey gang! There is a new craft show in town from the Pittsburgh Craft Collective called Crafts N’At, and hot dog! It’s this weekend at Soldiers & Sailors in Oakland 🙂

We’ll be there vending and chatting and hanging out at Crafts N’At with the quite large and super talented host of Pittsburgh crafters and DIY artists all day Sunday. So come check out the best that Pittsburgh’s fresh, upbeat and hardworking craft scene has to offer. Plus, this year’s 2nd Annual Crafts N’At is benefitting the amazing Animal Friends shelter. (That’s where we got our lovely little Sprite in October.

Also, there is a SUPER awesome party tonight to benefit the incredible Animal Friends too. The kick-off party is at Wildcard in Lawrenceville, recently voted “Pittsburgh’s Best New Boutique” by Pittsburgh Magazine, so yeah…it’s a pretty cool handmade haven shop. Come to the part & support both local crafters and local animals in need 🙂 It’s a twofer of warm and fuzzy proportions.

Both the Friday night Kick-off party at Wildcard and the Craft Show Crafts N’At are FREE to attend. And at Crafts N’At there will be fun, family friendly activities sponsored by Creative Reuse Pittsburgh and the Society for Contemporary Craft, food from Coca Cafe and Square Cafe, and performances by Brad Yoder and Shay and Joe Serkoch.

New art prints released: Naptime & I Love My Books!

For a while now I’ve been wanting to try a new layout, a square one, and one that would fit right into an LP record frame. Well, that time has come.

It’s “Naptime”. We all get sleepy snuggly sometimes, and even natural-born enemies can be the best of friends. You just gotta let your softer side rule.

“Naptime” is the first print in that size and layout. From an illustration that I did a few weeks ago while hanging out on a lazy Sunday afternoon off, while we were totally being summer tv heads. Probably we were watching some cooking shows, or Holmes On Holmes (my new obsession) or such like television.

Anyhoo, I also decided rather than waste paper or have a weirdly shaped cast off, as the 12×12 inch size is smaller than my normal print & paper size, that I would run a smaller print at the same, 2-up. (2-up means printing 2 or more designs on the same page at the same time, cutting them down and apart after printing.) So, I did an ode to books for the secondary smaller design, as below, called “I Love My Books”. ‘Cause I do.

FS 26: Thank you Chicago!

On the road to Chicago!

Thank you so much awesome people of Chicago, Pitchfork Festival & Flatstock Poster Show!

We had a fun & pretty crazy & event filled time this past long weekend in your city. Thanks to everyone we met & talked to at Flatstock, and moreover, thanks for buying some of our work. We’re always mega appreciative and blown away by the awesome people we get to meet on these roadtrips.

Highlight bands we got to take turns to see and loved: LCD Soundsystem (!), Sleigh Bells, Pavement, and Kurt Vile. Super great sets by all, and we heard the lovely St. Vincent & Beach House & Local Natives all kick ass from afar.

The below is just a few parts of our trip, in photos. From Pittsburgh, to the Renegade Handmade store for the Rock Paper Show book release party, to the Post Family gallery for The Cantankerous Hellfighter show featuring collaborative work by our friends Delicious Design League & Aesthetic Apparatus, to Humboldt Park, The Congress Plaza Hotel, Flatstock, & everywhere in between.

San Fran bound! Renegade Craft Fair SF, we’ll see you there :)

Hey lovely city of San Francisco, that I have never ever been to…can’t wait to meet you at the end of this month! That’s right, we here at strawberryluna are taking the plunge and adding another Renegade Craft Fair to our roster of craft shows that we’re doing this year. Super so duper excited to be accepted into this prestigious juried show too.

Tell me, what should do when we’re not working the booth at Renegade? I’m kind of partial to checking out the night tour of Alcatraz, as I’ve heard that it’s amazing. I’m also thinking about checking out the SF MoMA and the Cartoon Art Museum too, but welcome any suggestions. Please post comments and give us a shout out for other can’t-miss things to do and see in San Francisco, won’t you?

Yep. It’s true. There is now a ‘strawberryluna’ account page on Facebook.

I’ve had a personal account for some time now, and I’d bet a bunch of you are already my pals there. But, that page is a little more personal, you know, with rants, dumb photographs of my dog, or a weird sign, or bad (or good) food, etc.

So, now, for anyone interested in strawberryluna the studio, in addition to, or instead of Allison, the goof behind strawberryluna, feel free to add, like, friend, or ignore the strawberryluna Facebook version.

I’m sure that I will be announcing new prints and posters and work, as well as putting up process photos and the like there, and probably running silly contests and more interactive stuff through that page.

The making of “Let It Sway” by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin

Gol’dang we love these guys and we love this band. 2 separate but equal loves.

The super rad Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin have a new record coming out next month on August 17th called “Let It Sway” and like many of their fans, I could not be more excited and full of anticipation. Nicely, as these dudes always are, they’ve put up a lovely short film about the making of this record. “Let It Sway” was produced by Chris Walla, of Death Cab For Cutie, and is the first record that SSLYBY hasn’t self-produced. From the sounds of the first single and a couple of other sneak peak listens at live shows of new songs, it hasn’t changed their sound, it’s just freed the band up to be even better than before.

The new Rock Paper Show: Flatstock Volume 1 book.

Kicking off our long weekend in Chicago for Flatstock Poster Show at the Pitchfork Music Fest, the great crew from  Soundscreen Design & Rock Paper Show: Flatstock Volume 1 book are having a party this week, and you’re invited.

Come out for the Chicago release party for Rock Paper Show: Flatstock Volume 1 at our superfriends shop, the Renegade Handmade store  in the Wicker Park neighborhood on Thursday, July 15 from 7-9pm. The book, posters and collaborators will be on site. And we’re quite excited to be finally getting to visit the Renegade Handmade store since it’s one of the biggest carriers of my prints and posters. Totally can’t wait! So if you live in Chicago, or are in Chicago for the Pitchfork Music Festival or just love gigposters, come say “hi”!  We’ll be there hanging out, chatting with everyone, and yeah…probably shopping a little bit too 🙂

Flatstock Chicago & Pitchfork Music Fest: July 16-18, come say hi!

For us, summer time means a lot of things, and one of them is what we like to call “carny season”. Yep. That’s right, I just called us carnies. We do a lot of craft shows and poster shows, aka Flatstocks all through the spring & summer and travel around the country to participate in them. And? We love it.

One of our favorite shows is coming up this weekend, hooray! It’s the Chicago Flatstock 26, which happens during the super dupes Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park, smack in the middle of Chicago. We’ll be there showing a giant new crop of posters and Test Prints as well as art prints and more. So please say hello when you drop by Flatstock! We love meeting new folks at shows, big time.

Pitchfork Fest’s line up is seriously kickass this year, and even cooler, Flatstock 26 Chicago is 3 days long now too running from Friday July 16th through Sunday July 18th. While the Flatstock Poster Show is free and wide open to the tens of thousands of Pitchfork Festival attendees, you do need a ticket to attend Pitchfork Fest.

The Flatstock Poster Show series is presented by the American Poster Institute (API), of which all Flatstock artists are members. New poster released: We Were Promised Jetpacks (!)

And here we go! The 3rd & final release for today, phew!

And ROMG! Do you love this band like we do? ‘Cause we sure do. If it’s not Scottish, it’s crap. And that’s pretty true as pertains to music.

This is my hand silkscreen printed poster for the super We We Promised Jetpacks‘ show with Bear Hands & Landline on July 8, 2010 at Mr Smalls, Pittsburgh, PA. The poster was sold at the show, and I have just a small number for sale, so they will go quick!

4 color (3 screens) all hand screenprinted poster with dark yellow, magenta & space black non toxic screenprinting inks and in produced in a limited edition, this poster is signed (by me, strawberryluna) and numbered. Overprint magical secret = Where you see red, the yellow inks were overprinted by transparent magenta to make a hot red. Yep! Edition: 105. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight. I design & hand screenprint my prints and posters. If you have any questions, just let me know.

This poster was super fun to print, and it’s so awesome that We We Promised Jetpacks totally brang it for the show too. See them live DARN IT.

New art print released: Summer Cardinal, the 3rd 2010 Seasons Print

Huzzah! It’s summer, fully. The 2nd of 3 new releases today, this is my Summer Cardinal art print. And I have to be honest, it’s been done printed, cut, and ready to fly home since the first day of summer. Mea culpa on the slow to blog it here (in)action.

But, summer is all about being laid back right? Right. Sweet.

Quick story about this print. It was originally designed as a 5-color print, with a transparent metallic gold ink as the last layer. Somehow in my head, rather than expecting the metallic gold to work as a true transparent ink and blend with the pink base/1st color to make a new color (in this case, a peachy coral), I thought that it would sit on top. Essentially making a misty soft metallic gold overlay all subtly sparkly.

Yeah….no. Nope. (See last photo below.) I pulled two prints and decided to stop there, making this a 4 color print.

Summer Cardinal is a part of my new Seasons series. This is the seventh print in series of seasonal prints that I’ll be releasing. Ready? Here’s the mind-blowing part = there will be 4 per year. Crazy, right?

This year for the Seasons series, in 2010 I am doing things a little differently, rather than making a new image for each season, I’ve decided to follow the same bright red fellow in the same scene, across all 4 seasons. And here for Summer Cardinal, in honor of the softer, breezier and warmer life of summer, our little red fellow is enjoying the gathering sunset of a lovely night ahead in twilight pinks.

Summer Cardinal is my 4-color, all hand screenprinted art print with tender summer night pink, bark brown, scarlet red, fresh-leaf green hand mixed and non-toxic water based inks. All prints are hand signed and titled. Edition of 500. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight. $25.
