Score! Pun!
I saw a few loose pages in an Etsy shop (called Sensorium, click here for more) of this amazing Gershwin Song Book (which is cool enough) illustrated by the legendary Milton Glaser (which is amazing!) published in 1960 and had to find out more.
I searched out an inexpensive & complete song book, in beautiful condition at Abe Books and eeeeeeeeeeeee….it’s really lovely. Below are a just few more images from the song book. Yet, there are many more throughout the song book. Yum.

I love the Gershwins! That reminds me, I need to finish framing the sheet music I got at a rummage sale at which I used to volunteer staff. They are great sources for old records too.
The top one reminds me of the Flatstock 2009 umbrella poster that I love 🙂
Man, I wish my work was as good as Glaser’s! The more familiar I become with his work, the more I see that he was not only an influence on me as a kid without me knowing who he was, but a hue influence on my more direct influences, even today.
And agreed, the Gershwin’s can’t be beat. Tip top stuff all around and a great pairing of musical & visual talents.
What great illustrations.
Thank you for introducing me to Glaser’s work.
It just gave me a burst of inspiration.
I look forward to discovering more.
Thank you and glad that you like Glaser’s work too 🙂
